School Houses

 

There are four houses in Hogwarts. Each student is sorted into a house by THE SORTING HAT.

Gryffindor - The brave of heart dwell here.

Hufflepuff - The hard workers, patient and loyal live here.

Ravenclaw - This is the house of the witty and eager learners.

Slytherin - The cunning and sly students live here.

 

Settings

 

Azkaban = Prison fortress where wizarding criminals are sent. Guarded by Dementors, who drain peace, hope and happiness out of any human who comes too close to them. It is located north of the North Sea. A very cold place.

Borgin and Burkes = Dark Arts shop in Knockturn Alley

The Burrow = Home of the Weasley family.

The Chamber of Secrets = Hidden room created by Salazar Slytherin where he stored an unknown horror that could only be freed by his true heir to purge the school of those unworthy to study magic.

Common room = Meeting room filled with comfy chairs and tables in each Hogwarts house.

Dervish and Banges = Wizarding equipment shop in Hogsmeade

Diagon Alley = A long cobbled street where the wizard shops and the pubs are located. Muggles cannot see the entrance, which is at the back of the Leaky Cauldron pub in London.

Eeylops Owl Emporium = Owl shop in Diagon Alley

Florean Fortesque’s Ice-Cream Parlour = Ice-cream shop in Diagon Alley

Flourish and Blotts = Wizarding bookshop in Diagon Alley where all the students buy their books for Hogwarts classes.

Forbidden Forest = A deep, dark forest that surrounds Hogwarts.

Gambol and Japes = The joke shop on Diagon Alley, which is the favorite store of the Weasley twins.

Godric’s Hollow = Home of Harry’s parents, Lily and James Potter.

The Great Hall = The main hall in Hogwarts where all the special events and meetings take place. The ceiling is bewitched to look like the sky outside.

Gringotts = The bank where the wizards keep their money. It is guarded by goblins.

Grunnings = A company that makes drills, where Harry's uncle Vernon Dursley is a director.

Hagrid's Hut = the home of the gameskeeper, Hagrid.

The Hog’s Head = The pub where Hagrid once won a dragon’s egg.

Hogsmeade = The only completely magical village in Britain. Hogsmeade is not far from
Hogwarts and has the most wonderful wizarding stores.

Hogwarts = The BEST school of witchcraft and wizardry in Europe. It's motto is: "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus" which means "Never tickle a sleeping dragon." Pupils from age eleven attend for seven years of rigorous training in the art of witchcraft and wizardry. There are a hundred and forty-two staircases and everything keeps moving around, so things are not always in the same place. Hogwarts is in a secret location somewhere in the Northern Britain. There is a certain room in Hogwarts that has magical powers Harry hasn't discovered yet. There are about 1000 students at Hogwarts.In Hogwarts there's a magical quill which detects the birth of a magical child, and writes his or her name down in a large parchment book. Every year Professor McGonagall checks the book and sends owls to the people who are turning 11. Hogwarts just serves Britain and Ireland.

Honeydukes = The candy store in Hogsmeade. Wizarding candy can be purchased here.

King's Cross Train Station, London = This is the location of Platform 9 3/4.

Knockturn Alley = Street of Dark Arts wizard stores

The Leaky Cauldron = The pub and boarding house through which witches and wizards gain access to Diagon Alley.

Madam Malkin’s = The clothes store in Diagon Alley which sells wizarding robes for all occasions.

Magical Menagerie = The pet shop in Diagon Alley.

Number 4, Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey, England = The Dursley residence.

Ollivanders = The wand shop in Diagon Alley. ‘Makers of Fine Wands since 382 bc’.

Platform nine and three-quarters = The secret platform at King's Cross Station where students gather to board the Hogwarts Express.

Quality Quidditch Supplies = Quidditch shop in Diagon Alley.

The Quidditch Pitch = This is where the games take place ~ above the ground - in the air

Shrieking Shack = A shack in Hogsmeade that is supposed to be the most haunted building in Britain.

Smeltings = Dudley Dursley’s private school. Uncle Vernon's old school.

The Three Broomsticks = Pub in Hogsmeade where you can buy Butterbeer or mead.

The Underground aka 'The TUBE' = London's subway system

Zonko’s = The joke shop in Hogsmeade.
