Antipodean Opaleye = n. This beautiful, medium-size dragon is native to New Zealand. It is covered with iridescent scales and has an opal-like eye. It produces a bright scarlet flame and loves to eat sheep. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Apothecary Shop = n. a drugstore, pharmacy

Arithmancy = n. Ancient study of the magical properties of numbers.

Ashwinder = n. A thin, pale-grey snake with glowing red eyes. It lays arsonistic eggs which have magical powers if frozen. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

Augurey = n. A shy bird, native to Britain and Ireland which forecasts the weather. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale.

Auror = n. A witch or wizard who can see through different dimensions. One who chases and catches Dark Wizards, who are then sent to Azkaban. 

Azkaban = n. Prison fortress where wizarding criminals are sent                 

apparate = v. to disappear from one place and re-appear almost instantly in another place 

banshee = n. A female spirit in Gaelic folklore who warns a family that one of them will soon die by screaming or wailing. You might say that someone is 'screaming like a banshee'.

basilisk = n.
A brilliant green, yellow-eyed serpent that can grow up to 50 feet long. To meet its gaze mean instant death. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale.

bezoar = n. A stone taken from the stomach of a goat. Saves wizards from most poisons.

Billywig = n. A stinging, bright blue insect native to Australia. The dried stings of the Billywig are used in a number of magical potions, including a popular sweet. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

bins = n. garbage or trash cans

blast-ended skrewts = n. pale, slimy-looking creatures that look like shell-less lobsters

blimey! = *idiom* an expression that means "Oh My!"

Bludger Backbeat = n. A Beater play in Quidditch.

bubotubers = n. black, slimy plants that are ugly! One needs to get the pus from them for potions.

Buckbeak = n. name of a Hippogriff = a large flying creature that is half bird and half horse

Bundimun = n. This creature is found all around the world. It looks like a patch of green fungus, survives by eating dirt and infests houses. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

butterbeer = n. frothy, buttery drink served in Hogsmeade 

caravan = n. travel trailer

Centaur = n. A creature which has a human body from the waist up and a horse's body from the waist down. This mystical being originated in Greece and dwell in the forest. It iscapable of intelligent thought and speech and should be reagarded with respect. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale, because of it's intelligence and aggressiveness.

Chimaera = n. A Grecian monster which has a lion's head, a goat's body and a dragon's tail. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale and its eggs are classified as non-tradeable.

Chinese Fireball = n. This Asian dragon is covered by smooth, scarlet scales, with golden spikes around its face. It has two bulgy eyes. When angry, it produces a mushroom-shaped flame from its nostrils. It eats mammals. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale.

Chizpurfle = n. A small parasite which resembles what Muggles call a "dust mite". It infests the fur and feathers of a few magical creatures and is known to have gnawed magical wands and cauldron leftovers. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale.

Christmas crackers = n. foil-covered paper tubes that usually hold a small surprise and a paper hat. It is a custom to grab the ends and pull apart at Christmas dinner. The cracker "snaps" and pops apart.

Chudley Cannons = n. Ron Weasley’s favorite professional Quidditch team. They wear bright orange and black robes and they play on the poster, which is hung in his room.

Clabbert = n. A mottled-green, smooth-skinned, tree-dwelling creature which looks like a cross between a grinning monkey and a frog. It's horned head has a large pustle in the middle of the forehead, which is very distinctive. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Cleansweep 7 =  n. Kind of broomstick used by Fred and George Weasley.

codswallop = n. nonsense! (as spoken by Hagrid)

Comet = n. Kind of broomstick flown by Cho Chang.

Common Welsh Green = n. This dragon lives in the mountains of Wales and loves to eat sheep. It produces thin jets of fire from its nostrils and a melodius roar. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

conk = n. nose

Crup = n. This dog-like creature resembles a Jack Russell terrier with a forked tail. It is very loyal to its Wizard master. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Cruciatus Curse = n. Cruciatus is Latin for cross. "Cruciate" (as in "excruciate") means "forming or arranged in a cross; cruciform" (New American Heritage Dictionary). Excruciate, on the other hand, is to "inflict with severe pain; torture" (same dictionary). -(Thank-you to Louie Verreault)

Dementors = n. guards of Azkaban

Demiguise = n. This creature, found in the Far East resembles a large silver-haired ape. The hair of this magical beast is extrememly valuable as it may be spun into the fibers which make an Invisibility Cloak. When threatened, this creature makes itself invisible. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Diricawl = n. This is a fluffy, flightless bird from Mauritius, which can vanish and reappear at will. (aka 'Dodo' bird to Muggles) This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale.

Dopplebeater Defence = n. A Beater defence in Quidditch.

Double Eight Loop = n. A Keeper defence in Quidditch.

Doxy = n. This fairy-like creature has four arms and four legs and is covered by thick, black hair. They are also known as the "Biting Fairy" and have double rows of venomous, razor-sharp teeth. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Dragon = n. There are ten breeds of dragons. Their eggs are classified an Non-Treadeable. These fantastic beasts are classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Dugbog = n. This sharp-toothed, finned creature lives in the marshes of Europe, North and South America. It is camoflauged like a piece of dead wood and loves to eat Mandrake. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

dunderhead = n. A dumb person.

Durmstrang = n. one of the largest European schools of Wizardry

en suite = n. bathroom adjoining a bedroom

Erised, Mirror of = n. A mirror at Hogwarts in which Harry sees his family, not his reflection. The words on the top say "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi." which, when read backwards says " I show not your face but your hearts desire".

Erkling = n. This elf-like, German creature is known to lure children away from their guardians with its high-pitched cackle for the purpose of eating them. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Erumpent = n. This large, grey African creature has great power because of its size and amazing horn. Its thick hide is charm and curse proof and its sharp horn can pierce anything upon which the target explodes. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Fairy = n. This little creature resembles a human with wings. It cannot talk, but emits a high-pitched buzz to communicate to other fairies. It posseses only light magic. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Father Christmas = n.  Santa Claus

Fire Crab = n. This Fijian creature resembles a heavily jewelled tortoise. It lives on a protected reservation. When attacked, it shoots flames from its rear. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Firebolt = n. Fastest, most technologically advanced broomstick. Can accelerate from 0-150 miles per hour in ten seconds.

Flobberworm = n. This thick brown worm grows up to ten inches in length and lives in shallow ditches. It eats any vegetation, but prefers lettuce. This fantastic beast is classified as a 1 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Floo powder = n .a magical powder that allows wizards to travel via fireplaces & chimney floos (chimneys)

football = n. soccer  (not American football)

fortnight = n. period of two weeks

Fwooper = n. This African bird is covered with brightly colored plumage and lays vivid patterned eggs. The feathers are sought for fancy quills. The Fwooper song will drive the listener to insanity, so when purchased as a pet, the Fwooper comes with a Silencing Charm. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Galleon = n. Gold wizarding money. One Galleon is equal to about five pounds, though the exchange rate varies!

Ghoul = n. This ugly, slimy, simple-minded creature is generally thought to be scary, but not particularly dangerous. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Gillyweed = n. a plant, when eaten, allows the person to breathe underwater

Glumbumble = n. This grey, furry, flying insect from Northern Europe feasts on nettles. It produces a treacle, used as an antidote. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Gnome = n. This common garden pest is found throughout Europe and North America. It looks like a little human with a large head and hard, bony feet. It messes up your garden looking for Horklumps to eat. To rid your garden of this creature, take a lesson from Ron Weasley. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Graphorn = n. These large, greyish-purple creatures live in the mountains of Europe. They have humped backs and walk on four-thumbed feet. These aggressive beasts have very long, sharp horns, which when collected and pulverized, are used as an ingredient in many magical potions.This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Griffin = n. This Grecian creature has the front legs and head of an eagle and the body and hind legs of a lion. They are fierce in nature and used to protect treasure. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale.  The Griffin is on the crest of Gryffindor House.

Grindylow = n. This horned, pale-green, underwater creature isfound in Britian and Ireland. It will try to drown wizards and Muggles. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale.

hag = n. An ugly or evil-looking old woman or witch. This word is from 14th century England.

haggis = n. a traditional Scottish dish made of of the heart, liver, and lungs of a sheep or calf, minced with suet, onions, oatmeal, and seasonings and boiled in a bag made from an animal's stomach.

Hawkshead Attacking Formation = n. A Chaser move in Quidditch.

headmistress or headmaster = n. principal of the school

Hebridean Black = n. This bat-winged dragon resides in the Hebrides Islands. It is covered with rough black scales and has a line of razor-sharp ridges along its back. Its arrow-tipped tail and purple eyes make it fearsome-looking. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Hippocampus = n. This Grecian creature has the head and front quarters of a horse and the tail and hind quarters of a fish. It lays large transparent eggs like a frog. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Hippogriff = n. This large, flying creature has the head of a giant eagle and the body of a horse. It can be tamed by experts for personal use.This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Horklump = n. This Scandinavian creature looks like a pink mushroom covered with black bristles. It spreads through one's garden using underground tentacles and can cover your garden in a matter of days. This fantastic beast is classified as a 1 on the M.O.M. scale. 

howler = n. an angry letter from a parent or relative reprimanding the Hogwart student 

hoover  (a room) = v. vacuum  (a room) 

Hungarian Horntail = n. The most dangerous of all the dragons, this beast is covered with black scales, has yellow eyes, bronze horns and spikes. It produces a very long flame and loves to eat goats, sheep and humans. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

ice pop or ice lolly = n. Popsicle

'ickle = adj. little

Imp = n. This tricky little creature is found only in Britain and Ireland. It lives in damp and marshy areas, eats insects and loves to trip unwary walkers. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

invisibility cloak = n. magic cloak granting the wearer invisibility. 

Jarvey = n. This ferret-like creature is found in Britain, Ireland and North America. It can say short, simple phrases and lives below ground. It likes to eat moles, rats, voles, and gnomes. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

Jobberknoll = n. This tiny blue-speckled bird lives in northern Europe and America. It eats small insect and makes not a sound until the moment of its death. Its feathers are used in Truth Serums and Memory Potions. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale.

Kappa = n. This Japanese water demon has a hollow indentation on its head in which it keeps water, the source of its power. It looks like a monkey covered with fish scales. It feeds on human blood, but may be tricked into bowing, whereby it loses its power, allowing its prey to escape. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale.

Kelpie = n. This water demon lives in Britain and Ireland. It can take on various shapes but most often appears as a horse with a bullrush mane. It will lure riderr, carry them to the bottom of the water and eat them. The largest Kelpie is found in Loch Ness. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

kip = n. nap, sleep

Knarl = n. This hedgehog-like creature gets annoyed when food is left outside and will damage the owner's garden. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Kneazle = n. This cat-like creature has speckled fur, large ears and a tail like a lion. It makes an excellent pet for a witch or wizard and is very reliable when judging suspicious characters. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

knickerbockers = n. pants that come down below the knee and bloom out, and worn with long socks.

Knut = n. Bronze wizarding money in the form of a coin. There are 29 Knuts to a silver Sickle.

Leprechaun = n. This mischievous green creature is found only in Ireland. It looks like a small person, and can speak to be understood. It lives in the forest and loves to play tricks on people. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

leprechaun gold = n. gold that looks real, but vanishes after a few hours

Lethifold = n. Ahhh you found it. This black cloak glides along the ground at night. It attacks the sleeping by suffocating it, and devouring it totally. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale.

Lobalug = n. This venomous creature is found at the bottom of the North Sea. When attacked, it sprays the venom from a rubbery spout at the attacker. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

M.O.M. = acronym which stands for Ministry of Magic

Mackled Malaclaw = n. This land-dwelling lobster look-a-like lives on the rocky coastline of Europe. Its bite makes the vicitm become unlucky for up to seven days. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Manticore = n. This Grecian beast has the head of a man, the body of a lion and the tail of a scorpion. It is extremely dangerous as its sting causes instant death. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Marauder's Map = n. A map that shows all the secret passageways and the whereabouts of everyone in Hogwarts

Mermish = n. the language of the Merpeople (Mermaids & Mermen)

Merpeople = n. A community of underwater people known also as Sirens (Greece), Selkies (Scotland) and Merrows (Ireland). These creatures have tops like humans and bottoms like fish. They love music and many mermaids sing to sailors. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Moke = n. This silver-green lizard is found in Britain and Ireland. Moke-skin is excellent material for money purses. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Mooncalf = n. This nocturnal creature is found all around the world. It is very shy and only emerges from its burrow on nights of the full moon. Its silvery dung has magical properties. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Mudblood = n. An insult demeaning a person not born of magical parents.

Muggles = n. non-magical folk

Murtlap = n. This rat-like creature is found only in Britain. The growth on its back is magical when pickled and eaten. Murtlaps eat shellfish and the feet of anyone who steps on them. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

N.E.W.T.s = n. Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests. Higher-level examinations at Hogwarts. 

Niffler = n. These are fluffy, black, digging creatures with long snouts who like sparkly stuff. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Nimbus 2000 or 2001 = n. Make and type of broomstick. Harry's first broomstick.

nobbled "to get nobbled" = v. to get beaten in a game, (not in a nice way)

Nogtail = n. These piglet-like demons are found in America, Britain and Europe. They infest pig farms, bringing bad luck to the land and can only be chased off the farm by a pure white dog. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Norwegian Ridgeback = n. This highly aggresive dragon is covered with black scales and has orange eyes, bronze horns and ridges along its back. It attacks most large land and water mammals. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Nundu = n. This monstrous leopard lives in East Africa. It is the most dangerous of all creatures. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Occamy = n. This aggressive, two-legged, winged creature lives in the Far East and India. It has a feather-covered serpentine body and eats, rats, birds and monkeys. Its eggs are made of pure silver. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Ollivanders = n. The wand shop in Diagon Alley. ‘Makers of Fine Wands since 382 bc’.

O.W.L.s = n. Ordinary Wizarding Levels (exams)

Parkin's Pincer = n. A Chaser move in Quidditch. Named after the Parkin players.

Parselmouth = n. one who can speak with snakes

Parseltongue = n. the language spoken by a Parselmouth

Pensieve = n. a shallow basin that holds memories and thoughts

Pepper Imps = n. Candies, from Honeydukes that makes you smoke at the mouth.

Peppermint Toads = n. Toad-shaped peppermint candies from Honeydukes that hop around in your stomach. 

Peruvian Vipertooth = n. This is the smallest and swiftest of all known dragons. It is covered with smooth copper-coloured scales with black markingsand its head sports short horns and venomous fangs. It likes to eat goats and cows but loves to dine on humans. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Phoenix = n. This scarlet-feathered bird has a long golden tail, beak and claws. It is a magical bird in ancient stories and is found in China, Egypt and India. It can appear and reappear at will and lives to be very old. It regenerates itself by bursting into flames and rising up again from the ashes of its fire, as a chick. The song of the Phoenix is magical and its tears possess powerful healing properties. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Pixie = n. This brilliant blue creature is found in Cornwall, England. Although it doesn't have wings, it can fly and loves to play tricks on anyone. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Plimpy = n. A Plimpy is a puffed up, mottled fish with two long legs. Its feet are webbed and it lives on the bottoms of deep lakes. It is more annoying than dangerous. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

Plumpton Pass = n. A Seeker move in Quidditch. Named after the British Seeker, Roderick Plumpton. 

plus-fours = n. knickerbockers - pants that come down below the knee and bloom out, and worn with long socks.

Pogrebin = n. An annoying Russian demon that takes the shape of a rock. It follows in people's shadows and tries to eat them if they kneel, sit or fall. A swift kick will stop them. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Porlock = n. This shy, shaggy creature has a large nose, two cloven feet and short arms that end in four stubby fingers. It protects horses in Dorset, England and Southern Ireland. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Porskoff Ploy = n. A deviation play in Quiddtich. Named after Russian Chaser Petrova Porskoff.

Portkey = n. an object that is used to transport wizards from one spot to another at a pre-arranged time

pouffes = n. upholstered footstools

pound notes = n. Pound Sterling is the British currency, using £ as the symbol How much is your money worth in £? 

puddings = n. various desserts served after dinner 

Puffskein = n. This spherical soft ball of a creature is a popular pet with wizards. It hums when content. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

queue = 1) v. to line up;    2) n. a line

Quidditch = n. national sport of the magical world

Quintaped = n. This five-legged carnivorous spider-like creature lives in the northern tip of Scotland. There is a Scottish tale about the MacBoons and the McCliverts that offer the origin of this creature. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Ramora = n. This magical silver fish, found in the Indian Ocean, can anchor ships and guard seafarers. This fantastic beast is classified as a 2 on the M.O.M. scale. 

rations = n. certain measured amounts of food

Red Cap = n. Goblin-like creature found in places where bloodshed has occurred. They lie in wait to bludgeon the lost. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Re'em = n. These giant oxen with golden hides are very rare. They are found in North American and the Far East. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale.

Remembrall = n. A Magical glass ball, the size of a large marble, filled with white smoke. The smoke turns red to tell you that there is something you have forgotten to do

Revealer = n. An eraser that reveals any invisible writing

Reverse Pass = n. A play in Quidditch where a Chaser throws the Quaffle ofver their shoulder.

Romanian Longhorn = n. This dragon is covered with dark green scales and has long glittering horns. The horns, classified as Tradeable Material, are prized as ingredients for potions. It lives on a dragon reservation. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale.

Sea Serpent = n. This very long sea snake has a head like a horse and a long scaly body that rises in humps out of the sea. It is herbivorous. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

Shrake = n. This spiney fish is found in the Atlantic Ocean. It creates havoc with Muggle fishermen by ripping huge holes in their fishing nets. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale.

Skele-Gro = n. A potion used to re-grow bones after they have been removed.

skrewts = n. Pale, slimy-looking creatures that look like shell-less lobsters.

Slot Grip Roll = n. A play in the game of Quidditch to avoid a bludger.

Smeltings =  n. A private boy's school.

Sneakoscope = n. small wizarding toy - A spinning glass top that lights up when there is somebody or something suspicious around.

Snidget = n. The Golden Snidget is the original Golden Snitch. It is now an extremely rare and protected species of bird. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale.

Spellotape = n. wizarding repair tape

S.P.E.W. = Abbreviation for Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare

Sphinx = n. The Great Sphinx of Egypt has the head of a man and the body of a lion. It is very intelligent and used as a guard to treasures and secret hideouts. It is dangerous when its guarded treasure is threatened. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

splinch = v. to leave half your body behind when you Apparate

Spotted Dick = n. a vanilla pudding with raisins

squib = n. A child born to mixed magical and non-magical parents, but without magical abilities themselves. Some Truebloods (like Draco Malfoy) consider squibs (like Filch & Justin Finch-Fletchley& others) to be inferior.

Starfish and Stick = n. A Keeper defence move in the game of Quidditch.

stoat = n. A weasel-like animal. Hagrid likes to eat stoat sandwiches.

Streeler = n. This giant African snail leaves a venomous snail trail. Its shell changes color every hour and its venom is used to kill Horklumps. This fantastic beast is classified as a 3 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Swedish Short-Snout = n. This silvery-blue dragon lives in uninhabited mountain regions. It produces a brilliant blue flame that is extrememly hot. It's skin is used to manufacture protective gloes and shields. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

tea = n. a small evening meal, supper (as well as a cuppa hot tea)

Tebo = n. This African warthog is hunted for its magical hide. The warthog has the power of invisiblity and is very hard to catch. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

trainers = n. sneakers, runners

Transylvanian Tackle = n. A Quidditch move, which is a fake punch aimed at the nose.

treacle tart = n. A pie made with treacle or dark syrup.

Troll = n. This dim-witted, unpredictable creature may grow up to twelve feet tall. It is originally from Scandinavia but may be found in Britain, Ireland and parts of Northern Europe. There are three types of troll: Mountain Troll, Forest Troll and River Troll. They are carnivorous and eat their meat raw. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Trueblood = n. Someone born to pure magical parents.

tuffets = n. clumps

Ukrainian Ironbelly = n. This is the largest of all dragons. It is covered with grey, metallic scales with long claws and red eyes. It is slower in flight due to its large size, and will cause extreme damage to anything it lands on. This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Unforgivable Curses = n. three curses, the use of any on a fellow human being will earn a life sentence in Azkaban. curses, the use of any on a fellow human being will earn a life sentence in Azkaban.

Unicorn = n. This beautiful European, pure-white horse has a single, long horn growing from its forehead. The Unicorn's horn, blood and hair have powerful magical properties. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Unum = n. Latin for One; used on the Wizard coins

Veela = n. Beautiful women with skin that shines moon-bright and white-gold hair that fans out behind them without any wind. They make men forget everything when they dance.

vendetta = n. a private war against someone, usually waged to settle a grudge

Veritaserum = n. truth serum

warlock = n. wizard

Wellington boots = n. rubber boots, gumboots

Werewolf = n. This creature is found worldwide when a full moon is present in the night sky. An affected Muggle or Wizard turns into a murderous beast and once bitten, there is no known cure.This fantastic beast is classified as a 5 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Whomping Willow = n. a  violent willow tree on the edge of the Forbidden Forest

Winged Horse = n. There are many different types of winged horses that live all around the world. This fantastic beast is classified from 2- 4 on the M.O.M. scale. 

Woollongong Shimmy = n. A high speed zigzagging movement in Quidditch. Perfected in Australia.

Wronski Feint = n. A dangerous Seeker diversion in the game of Quidditch. This manouever is named after Polish Seeker, Josef Wronski

Yeti = n. This upright creature is also known as "The Abominable Snowman" or "Bigfoot". It is covered by pure-white hair and lives in the forest. This fantastic beast is classified as a 4 on the M.O.M. scale.
