He has a snowy owl named Hedwig. Harry's birthday is on July 31st (same as the author, JK Rowling) year 1984. or 1980?

Ron Weasley - Harry's friend - a good, young wizard. He has a rat named Scabbers. He was born on March 1st, 1980.

Hermione Granger - Harry's friend - a good, young witch. She buys a big cat called Crookshanks. (Hermione is pronounced Her-MY-n-ee) Her birthday is on September 19th.

Bagman, Ludovic - Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, Beater of the Wimbourne Wasps

Bane - a centaur that lives in the Forbidden Forest

Bell, Katie - Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Binns ~Professor - History of Magic teacher . Only ghost teacher at Hogwarts

Cadogan, Sir - A Knight from a portrait in the North Tower. He was the temporary guardian of Gryffindor Tower while the Fat Lady was being repaired (after her portrait was slashed)

Chang, Cho - Seeker of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. Harry has a crush on her in the 4th book.

Clearwater, Penelope - Percy Weasley's girlfriend

Crabbe, Vincent - Draco Malfoy's henchman

Creevey, Colin - student and fan of Harry who follows him constantly and is always taking his picture.

Creevey, Dennis - Colin's little brother

Crockford, Doris - Lady in the Leaky Cauldron

Crouch, Bartemius - Head of the Department of International Magical Co-Operation

Crouch, Barty - son of Bartemius. At one time he was a prisoner of Azkaban.

Fat Lady - The subject of the portrait guarding the entrance to Gryffindor Tower.

Fawkes - golden phoenix belonging to Albus Dumbledore

Figg, Arabella - Elderly Muggle who used to baby-sit for Harry when the Dursleys went away.. She has many cats and would bore Harry with all the photo albums of her felines.

Filch, Argus - The Caretaker at Hogwarts and failed wizard. Filch hates students and especially Harry or his friends. He has a cat called Mrs. Norris.

Finnigan, Seamus - Seamus is a student in Gryffindor house. His best friend is Dean Thomas.

Flamel, Nicolas - Owner of the Philosopher's Stone Apparently, Nicholas Flamel was real

Flamel, Perenelle - Wife of Nicholas Flamel

Flint, Marcus - Captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team.

Flitwick Filius ~Professor - Charms teacher & Head of Ravenclaw House

Fluffy - the three-headed dog who loves music

Fridwulfa - Hagrid's mother, who was a giant

Fubster, Colonel - A 'Muggle' neighbour of Aunt Marge

Jordan, Lee - He has dreadlocks and is famed for his commentaries at the Quidditch matches. He is a best friend to Fred and George Weasley.

Jorkins, Bertha - Member of the Ministry of Magic, who was abducted in Albania.

Karkaroff ~Professor - The tall, goateed, Durmstrang Headmaster who knows a lot about the Dark Arts.

Kettleburn ~Professor - Care of Magical Creatures teacher. Retired at the end of Harry’s second year

Krum, Viktor - Bulgarian seeker for the Durmstrang School, who has a large curved nose and thick eyebrows. He walks like a duck and is round-shouldered but is awesome on a broomstick!

Lockhart, Gilderoy - Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in Harry's second year. Author of self-glorifying autobiographies and five times winner of Witch Weekly's Most-Charming-Smile Award.

Longbottom, Neville - an accident-prone student at Hogwarts

Lord Voldemort - an evil and powerful Wizard

Lupin, Remus J. ~Professor - Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher

Macmillan, Ernie - friend of Harry's ~see Hufflepuff House

McCormack, Kirley - lead guitarist for the rock band The Weird Sisters.

McGonagall, Minerva ~Professor- Transfiguration teacher & Head of Gryffindor House. She is 70 years old.

Mad-Eye Moody - aka Alastor Moody - A famous Auror

Malfoy, Draco - a mean, young wizard, who is a bully. DRACO m = Ancient Greek (Latinized) "dragon, serpent" from Greek drakon. (ta Gemma B)

Malfoy, Lucius - officer in the Ministry of Magic and Draco Malfoy's father

Malfoy, Narcissa - Draco's tall, blonde mother and wife of Lucius Malfoy. She is a stuck up woman.

Maxime, Olympe ~Madam - Headmistress of Beauxbatons

Moaning Myrtle - deceased student at Hogwarts who lives in the girls' loo

Moody, Alastor - Retired Auror hired to teach Defence Against the Dark Arts in Harry's fourth year. Known as 'Mad-Eye Moody' since he lost an eye in the fight against Voldemort and his supporters, and replaced it with a magical eye. He is badly scarred and has a wooden leg.

Morgana - The name of a witch depicted on a wizard trading card.

Mostafa, Hassan - Acclaimed Egyptian Chairwizard of the International Association of Quidditch. He is small, skinny, completely bald and has a huge moustache.

Winky - a female house-elf belonging to Mr. Crouch
